As part of the 2025/26 Research Programme, 18 sub-technologies were reviewed to assess whether their criteria remain relevant and continue to identify the most energy efficient products in their class.

As new technologies emerge, standards change and products become more efficient. The Annual Research Programme lets the ETL keeps pace with these changes, reviewing technology categories and identifying where criteria need to be updated.

This year’s InstallerSHOW brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors from across the heat, water, air and energy sectors. The ETL team spoke with several exhibitors, gathering insights into emerging trends and product developments that help inform its ongoing work with manufacturers and purchasers of energy efficient technologies.

As part of the 2024/25 Research Programme, 15 sub-technologies were assessed to confirm that the criteria continue to identify the top 25% most energy efficient products on the market in their class.

We are pleased to announce that manufacturers of Packaged Chillers can now benefit from a streamlined application process for the ETL through our latest criteria alignment with Eurovent Certification. By using their existing Eurovent Certified Performance test reports, manufacturers can now demonstrate compliance with ETL performance standards.
