ETL at InstallerSHOW 2024

Advancing knowledge of energy efficiency

The ETL team was on-site at the NEC in Birmingham for this year’s InstallerSHOW (June 25th-27th), engaging with the over 20,000 installers, specifiers, and decision-makers from the heat, water, air, and energy sectors, all eager to explore the latest innovations and trends – including energy-efficient technology.

Amidst the hustle and bustle, the ETL continued its work to help the UK reach its Net Zero goal, reinforcing its role in promoting energy efficiency. This year’s show was significantly larger, boasting 50% more space and over 600 exhibitors, highlighting the growing interest and engagement.

Throughout the event, the ETL team met with a diverse array of manufacturers and purchasers, some displaying their energy-efficient products already listed on the ETL – marked by the ETL sticker.

Discussions and comments from manufacturers

Between the discussions with attendees and varied activities at InstallerSHOW 2024, industry insiders shared their insights on the importance of the ETL with the team.

“We have currently three products in the ETL [...] and I'm hoping to get a lot more of our products on the list. No greenwashing. It's a verified scheme, and very important. They [the ETL] know that these products have been tested rigorously to certain standards. They know they're not going to fail,” said Chris Turner, Specification Development and Technical Manager at Recoup Energy Solutions

Other manufacturers at the event echoed this same sentiment, praising the ETL for its verification process and its impact on driving the industry towards more energy-efficient practices.

Sam Carson, Technical Advisor at Rinnai UK shared, “The reason we have products listed on the ETL is because it definitely gives people some confidence in the product, and it's a great platform to have them listed on. People very much appreciate it. I think it gives them a bit more confidence in the appliances and the manufacturer, and that you are very happy to go through the procedures of verification through independent bodies. The ETL team were great to work with. It was a very smooth, efficient process, and it's great to be listed. There are no downsides to it, really.”

The ETL stand served as a hub for manufacturers interested in registering their products, and for those showcasing their ETL-listed products, who proudly labelled their offerings with ETL stickers. Purchasers also seized the opportunity to learn how the ETL can aid their procurement needs, providing access to around 8,000 independently verified and accredited products that meet the ETL’s criteria for energy efficiency.
