Welcome back - the ETL is here to energise your autumn!

Key updates and opportunities

As summer fades and we all gear up for the busy season ahead, it’s the perfect time for manufacturers and purchasers to revisit the ETL.

Think of this as your ‘back to school’ guide for making the most out of ETL’s offerings and exploring the latest updates. Whether you're looking to list new products, benefit from recent advancements, or simply understand how to maximise your ETL experience - here’s a rundown of everything you need to know.

Why the ETL should be your go-to resource

The ETL helps businesses to identify and adopt energy-efficient technologies, providing a vital resource for reducing energy consumption and lowering operational costs – a benefit for anyone involved in the manufacturing or purchasing of these technologies.

Future proof your growth strategies and increase your market visibility with free, impartial verification which helps avoid claims of greenwashing. Products listed on the ETL are associated with industry best practices too, so build trust with procurers and confidence in your energy efficient technology with ETL accreditation today.

New developments

As we move into the latter half of the year, several exciting updates have been introduced to the ETL:

Build your brand with the ETL

Did you know you can use the ETL mark if you have ETL listed products to supplement your marketing materials and give your products a competitive edge? The ETL’s Manufacturer’s Guide offers comprehensive advice on how to make the most of your listing, including leveraging logos, optimising product descriptions, and engaging with potential buyers. If you’re not yet making full use of these tools, now is the time to explore how you can elevate your marketing and sales strategy.

Propose a new technology

A business can submit an NTP to suggest a new energy-saving technology for the ETL. The scheme then undertakes a market level examination of the proposal’s benefits. Initial assessment is conducted within six weeks to establish whether the proposed technology category could pass basic ETL scheme requirements. This includes assessing energy and carbon savings, identifying test standards to assess performance, and alignment with other government policy measures.  Find out more about NTPs.

Insights from recent case studies

For purchasers, understanding how energy-efficient technologies can reduce operational costs is critical. A recent case study featuring Rhino Products demonstrates just how effective ETL-approved products can be. The Punch and Judy pub in Covent Garden, London benefitted from installing energy-efficient bottle coolers that not only kept drinks cool but also reduced energy consumption. This case study is a must-read for those looking to make smarter purchasing decisions that lead to cost savings and improved efficiency. Read the full case study here.

For manufacturers, promoting client success stories is a powerful way to showcase the real-world impact of your products. We encourage you to share your clients’ success stories with the ETL team—helping build your brand and contributing to the broader narrative of energy efficiency in action.
